SANDWICH COURSE - STUDY & WORK IN THE UK
To give students practical work training combined with a specifically designed UK
Vocational Course VQ level 2 in employment skills.

 Criteria:

 ·          Minimum age: 18

·          Minimum Course Duration: 60 hours classroom followed by work placement

·          This format is usually 2 weeks classroom + 6/12 months work training

·          English Level required – Upper Intermediate minimum

Course includes:

 ·          Issue of NCFE Certificate in Employment Skills Level 2 (on successful completion of portfolio consisting of theory and practical units.)

·          30 hours per week tuition over 2 weeks

·          Practical training with regular assessment carried out by ETCi Assessor

·          Paid work training for either 6 months or 12 months

NCFE Course details:

The NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Employment Skills has been accredited by the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA) and is part of the National Qualifications Framework.

The NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Employment Skills is designed to offer young people, primarily, the opportunity to develop work-related skills and techniques in order to enhance and improve their employability. The qualification has a particular focus of work placement/work experience and requires the candidate either to be undergoing work experience as part of his/her main course of study or to undertake some kind of work experience.

The qualification consists of five mandatory units

Unit 01 Health, safety and security in the workplace
Unit 02 Personal effectiveness in the job role
Unit 03 Supporting the working environment
Unit 04 Develop team skills for employment
Unit 05 Communication skills required in the workplace
 

And four optional units:

Unit 06 Research the job market and make an application
Unit 07 Organizational products and services
Unit 08 Information Technology for employment
Unit 09 Quality assurance procedures within the workplace
 

Candidates must successfully complete all five mandatory units plus one optional unit (Completion of more than one optional unit would be even better) and complete the full duration of the work experience to be awarded the NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Employment Skills.

Accommodation:

For the classroom portion of the course ETCi will arrange host family accommodation on a half board basis at a cost of £115 per week. ETCi will also assist in sourcing temporary accommodation for the work placement portion of the course, where no accommodation is provided by the employer.

What’s not included:

·          Flights to and from the UK

·          Travel Expenses within the UK

·          All accommodation costs

·          Lunch during the English Course

·          Meals during work placement*

 *Some employers may provide meals on duty but this is not standard.
