Fashion and Textile Design (Milan)

The aim of the master in Reasearch, which is geared towards graduates and those who already work in the fashion pipeline, is to create fashion and textile designers: exploresrs of fashion tendencies, creative professionals able to bring together theoretical notions, innovative insight and both organisational ability to liase with the world of production.
The Fashion and Textile Designer, is able to create and develop both a womenswear and menswear collection, as well as accessories and knitwear.
This course aims therefore at creating a professional figure who will gain the ability to develop drawings and research into design trends, while remaining true to the market concept, guaranteeing quality for the final product with awareness in production costs.

Every part of the creative process will be analised on an individual basis with professors, who are wellknown experts, designers and journalists, playing a significant role within the Italian Fashion System.
 

In order to carry out his role, a fashion designer must be able to work in a team, collaborating closely with the diverse sectors of the textile and clothes manufacturing industries.
Thus the training pathway will cover all parts of the creative process: the vision, the research, the sketches, colours, textiles, cost evaluation, prototypes and collections.

Design project: how to prepare and develop an idea. Promotes and encourages the creative process Design management: design as a strategic resource. You will study how does a business idea come about and how to manage the design process in terms of strategic resources

Digital design: specific software for the fashion. How to improve design by knowledge of software
Research project: development and experimentation. The examination of design methodology in all its forms
Textile and yarns: the characteristic qualities of materials
An introduction to the Fashion System: analysis of the fashion system
Trends: research into fashion market trends
Process technology in clothing, accessories and knitwear: knowledge of this specific technology.
