IOANA IERONIM

Sultanhamet

before daybreak
before the muezzin calls
and further out on a map of muezzin voices
to the horizon
the morning star rising in the deepest sky
above Topkapi walls
with their ivy and towers
where orange trees shed the light
that the full moon left behind

sleepy cabs waiting
for the late lovers
who sway down Sultanahmet hill

Sultanhamet

inainte de zori
inainte de chemarea muezzinului
si mai departe pe o harta de voci de muezzin
catre orizont
luceafarul de dimineata rasarind in cel mai adanc cer
deasupra zidurilor Topkapi
cu iedera si turnurile lor
unde portocalii revarsa lumina
pe care luna plina a lasat-o in urma

birje somnoroase asteptand
iubiti intarziati
ce coboara leganat dealul Sultanahmet
